Bio

Linn is recognised as one of the world’s leading audiophile record labels. Following its first release in 1982, the Linn label has grown to over 400 titles with a catalogue as extensive as it is diverse.

Boasting an array of exceptional music by both established and new artists the catalogue continues to flourish. Linn allows music enthusiasts to build an enviable collection of music: albums featuring the music of Bob Dylan, Cy Coleman, Elvis Presley and Joni Mitchell, sit alongside recordings of works by Mozart, Beethoven, Handel and Britten and, of course, there’s always a sprinkling of original music too.

Linn recordings have gained critical acclaim and have also earned the label many music industry awards, the most prestigious of which is ‘Label of the Year’ awarded by Gramophone Magazine in 2010.

Linn’s awards cabinet also includes the BBC Music ‘Disc of the Year’ Award and a ‘Critics’ Choice’ Classical BRIT Award for Mozart Symphonies 38–41 by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Sir Charles Mackerras, as well as two Gramophone Awards for Dunedin Consort’s celebrated recording of Handel and Bach. Claire Martin, whose career span three decades with Linn, has won a remarkable seven BBC Jazz Awards including ‘Best Vocalist’, ‘Vocalist of the Year’ and ‘Rising Star’. Three GRAMMY® nominations for recordings by Benjamin Zander, Boston Baroque and Dunedin Consort also demonstrate the strength of the catalogue.

Linn’s continued dedication to the LP, a format so intrinsically linked to its creation, sees new titles released on 180g vinyl each year.
